Unit 10 - Haloalkanes and Haloarenes Chemistry 12

Unit 10 - Haloalkanes and Haloarenes Chemistry class 12

Haloalkanes ( alkyl halides ) are  halogen derivatives of hydrocarbons with general formula R-X ( R- is aliphatic hydrocarbon chain or simply aklyl group) .
Haloarenes ( Aryl halides ) are halogen derivatives of aromatic hydrocarbons.
Both are formed by replacing one hydrogen atom by halogen atom in hydrocarbon.
